FAST Normal

adhesive mortar for ceramic and terracotta tiles (internal and external) - C1 type

Usage

FAST NORMAL is used for gluing ceramic and terracotta tiles with high water absorption to non-deformable surfaces such as concrete, cement and cement-lime plaster. It can be used in residential construction, inside, on horizontal and vertical surfaces, and outside buildings, on vertical surfaces - in places not exposed to moisture and high deformation of the cladding due to temperature changes. In the case of deformable surfaces, higher loads or tiles with lower water absorption, we suggest using FAST NORMAL+, FAST EXTRA or FAST EXTRA +.

Properties

Adhesive mortar FAST NORMAL is a dry mineral mix, modified with synthetic polymers, characterised by high adhesion. Thanks to its properties, it is efficient and easy to use.

Surface preparation

The surface should be even, strong and dry, free from all kinds of contaminants that would reduce the adhesion of the mortar, i.e. dust, lime, grease, remains of old paint coatings. In order to increase adhesion and eliminate dust, surfaces should always be primed with FAST GRUNT U or FAST GRUNT G.

The product can be used on the following surfaces:

  • cement and cement-lime plasters (after a minimum of 28 days and the humidity not higher than 4%)
  • cement screeds (after a minimum of 28 days and the humidity not higher than 4%)
  • concrete (more than 3 months after and humidity not higher than 4%)
  • anhydrite surfaces (humidity 0.5%)
  • gypsum (humidity below 1%)

Preparation and usage method

Pour about 5.5 liters of water per 25 kg of dry product into the container and add the contents of the bag, stirring until the consistency of a homogenous paste is obtained. Leave for about 10 minutes and mix again before use (do not add water). The mortar prepared in this way is usable for a period of 2.5 to 3 hours. During work, the adhesive mortar should be stirred periodically every 30 minutes. The tiles should not be soaked in water prior to laying. Start laying the tiles by applying a layer of glue to the surface with the flat side of the trowel, and then collecting the excess with the comb side. The thickness of the teeth on the trowel depends on the type and size of the tiles.

It should be remembered that the size of the surface on which the adhesive mortar is to be applied should allow for proper laying the tiles before the open drying time expires. If the mortar stops sticking to hands during work, it means that the time has been exceeded and it is necessary to remove the mortar and replace it with fresh one. It should be remembered that to ensure adequate adhesion, the adhesive mortar should cover at least 65-70% of the tile surface, and even 100% in wet places, exposed to intensive use and outside buildings. The tiles should not be butt jointed. The size of the joint should depend on the dimensions of the tiles.

Depending on the temperature and relative air humidity, the joint can be applied after no less than 48 hours from laying the tiles. The works should be carried out in dry conditions with air and surface temperatures between +5°C and +25°C. Fresh claddings should be protected against unfavorable weather conditions until they are dry.

USE

Depending on the type of substrate, FAST Normal consumption is from 2 to 4 kg / m².
The consumption depends on the size of the comb teeth and amounts to, respectively: comb from 4-6mm about 2.1 kg/m2 comb from 6-8mm about 3.2 kg/m2 comb from 8-10mm about 4.2 kg/m2
