FAST Normal Speed

Fast-setting adhesive mortar for ceramic and terracotta tiles, water and frost-resistant C1 FT type

Usage

FAST NORMAL SPEED is used for gluing ceramic tiles and terracotta to non-deformable surfaces such as concrete, cement screed and anhydrite, cement and cement-lime plaster, gypsum plasters and rigidly fixed gypsum plasterboards and gypsum-fiber boards. It can be used in indoor and outdoor construction on vertical and horizontal surfaces, in places not exposed to high deformation of the cladding due to temperature changes. It is possible to glue the tiles starting from the top. Due to its increased parameters, it is also suitable for gluing porcelain tiles inside rooms. In the case of deformable surfaces or greater loads, we suggest using FAST EXTRA SPEED.

Properties

Frost and waterproof adhesive mortar FAST NORMAL SPEED is a dry mineral mix, modified with synthetic polymers, characterised by high adhesion. Due to its properties, it is economical and easy to use. It is characterized by a very low flow, which allows the tiles to be glued from the top. Due to its quick setting parameters, it allows jointing the tiles after 6 hours.

Surface preparation

The surface should be even, strong and dry, free from all kinds of contaminants that would reduce the adhesion of the mortar, i.e. dust, lime, grease, remains of old paint coatings. In order to increase adhesion and eliminate dust, surfaces should always be primed with FAST GRUNT U or FAST GRUNT G.

The product can be used on the following surfaces:

  • cement and cement-lime plasters (after a minimum of 28 days and the humidity not higher than 4%)
  • cement screeds (after a minimum of 28 days and the humidity not higher than 4%)
  • concrete (more than 3 months after and humidity not higher than 4%)
  • anhydrite surfaces (humidity 0.5%)
  • gypsum (humidity below 1%)

Preparation and usage method

Pour about 6 liters of water per 25 kg of dry product into the container and add the contents of the bag, stirring until the consistency of a homogenous paste is obtained. Leave for about 5 minutes and mix again before use (do not add water). The mortar prepared in this way can be used for a period of about 30 minutes. The tiles should not be soaked in water prior to laying.

Start laying the tiles by applying a layer of glue to the surface with the flat side of the trowel, and then collecting the excess with the comb side. The thickness of the teeth on the trowel depends on the type and size of the tiles. It should be remembered that the size of the surface on which the adhesive mortar is to be applied should allow for proper laying the tiles before the open drying time expires. If the mortar stops sticking to hands during work, it means that the time has been exceeded and it is necessary to remove the mortar and replace it with fresh one.

I t should be remembered that to ensure adequate adhesion, the adhesive mortar should cover at least 80% of the tile surface, and in humid places, exposed to intensive use and outside buildings, even 100%. The tiles should not be butt jointed. The size of the joint should depend on the dimensions of the tiles.

The works should be carried out in dry conditions with air and surface temperatures between +5°C and +25°C. Fresh claddings should be protected against unfavorable weather conditions until they are dry.

USE

Depending on the type of substrate, FAST Normal Speed consumption is from 2 to 4 kg / m².
The consumption depends on the size of the comb teeth and amounts to, respectively: comb from 4-6mm about 2.1 kg/m2 comb from 6-8mm about 3.2 kg/m2 comb from 8-10mm about 4.2 kg/m2
