FAST Extra Speed

Fast-setting flexible adhesive mortar for ceramic and terracotta tiles on deformable and critical surfaces - C2 FT S1 type

Usage

FAST EXTRA SPEED is a fast-setting, highly flexible adhesive designed for fixing glaze and terracotta tiles clinker stoneware - also largeformat and stone (except for marble) on rigid and deformable surfaces inside and outside buildings. The surfaces can be: concrete, hollow bricks, brick, cement and cement-lime plaster, cement and anhydrite screed, drywall and gypsum-fiber boards, floors with underfloor heating, surfaces covered with foil or waterproofing mortar, old tiles. Due to its high flexibility, it is recommended for gluing tiles in places particularly exposed to deformation of the lining due to significant temperature changes, such as: stairs, balconies and terraces with a drop of > 2%.

Properties

FAST EXTRA SPEED adhesive mortar is a dry mineral mixture, modified with synthetic polymers, frost-resistant and waterproof, with high flexibility and adhesion, suitable for deformable and critical surfaces. Due to its quick setting parameters, it allows jointing the tiles after 6 hours.

Surface preparation

The surface should be even, strong and dry, free from all kinds of contaminants that would reduce the adhesion of the mortar, i.e. dust, lime, grease, remains of old paint coatings. In order to increase the grip and eliminate dust surfaces must always be primed with FAST GRUNT U or FAST GRUNT G.

The product can be used on the following surfaces:

  • cement and cement-lime plasters (after a minimum of 28 days and the humidity not higher than 4%)
  • cement screeds (after a minimum of 28 days and the humidity not higher than 4%)
  • concrete (more than 3 months after and humidity not higher than 4%)
  • anhydrite surfaces (humidity 0.5%)
  • gypsum (humidity below 1%)

CAUTION

Heated cement and anhydrite screeds should be pre-heated before installing the tiles.

Preparation and usage method

Pour about 6,5 liters of water per 25 kg of dry product into the container and add the contents of the bag, stirring until the consistency of a homogenous paste is obtained. Leave for about 5 minutes and mix again before use (do not add water). The mortar prepared in this way can be used for a period of 30 minutes. The tiles should not be soaked in water prior to laying. Start laying the tiles by applying a layer of glue to the surface with the flat side of the trowel, and then collecting the excess with the comb side. The thickness of the teeth on the trowel depends on the type and size of the tiles.

It should be remembered that the size of the surface on which the adhesive mortar is to be applied should allow us to properly install the tiles before the open drying time expires. If the mortar stops sticking to hands during work, it means that the time has been exceeded and it is necessary to remove the mortar and replace it with fresh one. Please note that to ensure adequate adhesion, the adhesive mortar should cover at least 65-70% of the tile surface. When installing large-format tiles, or in places exposed to intensive use, high humidity and outdoors, tiles should be installed using a combined method i.e. apart from applying the adhesive to the surface, the adhesive must also be applied to the reverse side of the tiles. This method of applying the adhesive ensures 100% contact of the tile with the surface and guarantees the best adhesion. The tiles should not be butt jointed. The size of the joint should depend on the dimensions of the tiles.

The works should be carried out in dry conditions with air and surface temperatures between +5°C and +25°C. Fresh claddings should be protected against unfavorable weather conditions until they are dry.

The glue obtains its full operational load resistance after min. 14 days from application. The underfloor heating can be started after min. 14 days from installing the tiles.

USE

Depending on the type of substrate, FAST Extra Speed consumption is from 2 to 4 kg / m².
